LeAnn was born on August 28, 1982 in Jackson, MS. At just 18 months old she began singing songs likeYou Are My Sunshine and Getting To Know You. At just age five she won her first singing contest. Age seven, LeAnn made her Dallas debut in a musical of A Christmas Carol. Not much later she was singing The Star Spangled Banner at Dallas Cowboy games. At age eight she was a champion on Star Search for Dont Worry. Then at age eleven she recorded a demo album only sold in Dallas on an independent label. It featured an eleven-year-old version of Blue. They probably didnt know what a success it was going to be. It soon caught attention of Mike Curb, president of Curb Records. Then in 1996 LeAnn released her major and biggest selling debut album, Blue. The title track from that album ultimately became one of her signature songs.

To follow up Blue, in 1997 LeAnn released You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Song. It made Billboard history by debuting at #1 on the country, pop, and contemporary Christian charts. Shes the only country artist to have that. The album contained a song known by all: How Do I Live. It set a record for the longest running single on the Billboard Hot 100 for 69 weeks. 1997 also was the year that LeAnn wrote a book with Tim Carter, Holiday In Your Heart. She starred in the ABC movie based on her book. Also in 1997 she released, The Early Years: Unchained Melody, which was a complication of her early work. 1997 was a big year. It was marked with stratospheric record sales and a great future to look forward to. It also was the year that she won her two Grammys. Shes the second country artist to be nominated for Best New Artist and the first and only country artist to win it.

The next year, Sitting On Top Of The World, LeAnns forth album was recorded and released. It featured the Gold (500,000 copies sold) single Commitment and Looking Through Your Eyes. Looking Through Your Eyes was the theme song from the animated motion picture, Quest For Camelot. Then in 1999, LeAnn came back as a new LeAnn. She released her self-titled album. It featured 11 classics. Including on it was Patsy Cline's Crazy and I Fall To Pieces. She also recorded Lovesick Blues, which was a perfect one for LeAnn with those yodels. Also, highlighted it was Me And Bobby McGee. To top it off it included the smash hit single, Big Deal. With this country classics CD, LeAnn wanted to show what country was during Patsy Cline and Hank William;s time. Now country seems to have mixed in with pop. In 1999 LeAnn had the honor of recording a duet with Elton John for his Aida album. Due to recording this hit single with Elton, she shared the stage to perform it. They performed it on Divas 99, the Peoples Choice Awards, the Today Show, the Tonight Show, and the Late Night with David Letterman. She was once again part of the Teen People/ABC Hot 21 Under 21 special. A little later she was part of the Today Shows concert series and on MTV's FANatic.

That same year she went to Europe and performed How Do I Live and Crazy for the Pope. The Pope blessed LeAnn and agreed her talent was a God-given gift. Part of 2000 LeAnn took off for a while.

Then she made a cameo appearance as a country superstar &# herself in a blockbuster hit Coyote Ugly. On the soundtrack she recorded 4 new songs written by Diane Warren. The Curb soundtrack quickly went Gold and sustained as the #1 soundtrack/country album for 6 consecutive weeks. The first single Cant Fight The Moonlight did well by being #1 in Single Sales. Cant Fight The Moonlight and I Need You also gave LeAnn another record breaking fact for becoming the first ever female solo artist to have two singles simultaneously in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 Sales chart. LeAnn's career has been marked by more than stratospheric record sales. In 1997, she won two Grammys, including Best New Artist, which marked the first time a Country artist had ever captured that honor. She also won an American Music Award , three ACM awards, , a TNN Music City News award, Billboard's special "Hot 100" award, and the CMA "Horizon Award." LeAnn closed that year with four Billboard Music Awards, including "Artist of the Year." Overseas, she has also been awarded the BBC's prestigious "Rising Star" award.

In February of 2002 she married Dean Sheremet and she sang at the 2002 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony. Her album, Twisted Angel, featuring 13 new tracks was also released. In August 2003 Jag was released. This was LeAnn's first children's book that she wrote with help from husband, Dean.

LeAnn released her first ever Christmas album last October. She released This Woman a new studio album. She and Dean also published Jag's New Friend. LeAnn was the host of Nashville Star for the third season.

LeAnn has a new European album coming out around October. LeAnn and Dean are working on a third Jag book and she has a new tour. LeAnn has began writing songs for her next album due out early next year.
